Crecco’s Cafe is a local pizza place and restaurant in Rivervale that serves quality pizza and is budget-friendly.

With affordable prices ranging from $0.90 for a Pepperoni Twist to $21 for a Chicken Bacon Ranch Calzone, Crecco’s Cafe is quite satisfactory.

Like a professional food connoisseur, I had to pick out of a multitude of dishes from an extensive menu. There were cold starters, hot starters, salads, pita sandwiches, heroes, wraps, ciabatta sandwiches, grilled panini, char-grilled burgers, pasta dishes, ravioli, dinner entrees, sides, desserts, and most importantly pizzas.

I chose three types of pizzas from Crecco’s: their Sicilian, regular, and white pies. A slice of regular costs $2.50, while the Sicilian and white pizzas cost $3.00 a slice.

While this isn’t quite as affordable as the $1.00 pizza in New York City, the price is average for nearby pizza restaurants. I can’t argue with the price; the pizza was enjoyable.

Personally, I liked the white pizza the best, but the Sicilian and regular slices weren’t disappointing either. The white pizza had ricotta and mozzarella stacked on top of the dough delivering flavors of both kinds of cheese at the same time.

Since Crecco’s isn’t just a pizza place, I eagerly picked out their “Gnocchi On Your Way and Pepperoni Twist dishes off of the menu.

For $0.90, the Pepperoni Twist was similar to pizza rolls with pepperoni twisted into the dough. The twists didn’t stand out in any particular way, but it was a pleasant appetizer.

At $12, the gnocchi portion was huge. For the sauce, I chose vodka sauce and it complemented the gnocchi nicely. Gnocchi alone does not have a lot of flavor, so I can appreciate the vodka sauce for the taste.

All of the food came out hot and the service was great. Ordering was easy and the food was ready quickly. What is there to complain about? My overall rating would be 4 out of 5 stars.
