The final three mascot options– Panthers, Green Wave, and Hawks – were presented to the Board of Education at its meeting Monday night. Pascack Valley students and faculty will be given the opportunity to vote for the mascot on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Mascot Selection Committee organizer and Pascack Valley Athletic Director Shawn Buchanan shared the three mascot selections and a ‘Mascot Selection Guide’ with students and faculty Tuesday morning via email. The guide includes an overview of the mascot selection process, the rationale behind each mascot option, as well as examples of sample logos.

The three options – Panthers, Green Wave, and Hawks – were first presented by committee student representatives Delia Collis and Vasili Karalewich to the Board of Education at its meeting on Monday night

“These three options provide the opportunity for our school community to create our new future identity,” Buchanan wrote in the email.

A mascot selection guide was also included in the email, in order to provide “the background and voting process, along with slides that explain each of the three possible choices,” according to Buchanan.

According to the email that Buchanan sent out, the voting ballot link will be emailed this Thursday and be available from 8:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m.

The email ended with Buchanan urging everyone to vote and participate so that “we have a mascot selected that we can all be proud of.”
