The Lowdown: In PV’s two most recent games against River Dell on Thursday and Dwight Morrow on Tuesday, she averaged 22.5 points, and helped lead the Indians to victory. In last Saturday’s county tournament game also played against River Dell, Smith scored 12 points in the 1-point win. She is averaging a team high 17.6 points per game thus far.

Coach’s Comment: “Here’s what I think is remarkable about her,” PV coach Jeff Jasper said. “A year ago she was surrounded by a carload of talent. Now, she is a focal point of every team’s defense. Whether they face guard her, double team her, she’s got to handle all that pressure. She’s grown to handle it very well.”

What He Likes Most About His Sport: Smith loves being around her team, and loves “playing with energy.”

Best Sport Memory: Smith says that winning a Group 3 title during her sophomore year was a great team accomplishment. She also says that getting her 1,000th point was a huge accomplishment for her as well.

Best Thing About PV: “The best thing about PV is that everyone comes and supports everyone in their sports,” Smith said.

Role Models: Smith says that her grandfather has been a role model for her. He taught her how to play basketball, and always told her to “never give up” and “always just try hard.”

Future Plans: Smith is going to study exercise science in college, and in basketball, she wants to continue to have fun and keep working hard.

Why She Chose Bloomsburg University: Smith thinks that she fits well with Bloomsburg, and “it felt more like a family” than any of the other teams that she saw.

Thoughts On Last Week’s County Tournament Win vs River Dell: Smith knew that PV had to play hard because River Dell was “out for blood.” According to Smith, winning the game was “just a matter of heart and guts.” She said that Pascack Valley brought forth a proper effort in the 4th quarter, which led to the win.

Thoughts On Saturday’s Bergen County Tournament Game vs Immaculate Heart Academy: Smith wants to prove to everyone that even though eleven seniors graduated, PV is still a great team. Smith believes that Valley can win and move on in the tournament.
