Name: Emma Wentland

Sport: Girls Swim Team

Grade: Sophomore

Events: 200 meter free relay, 400 meter free relay, 50 meter freestyle, and 100 meter freestyle

The Lowdown: Wentland has played a major role for the Indians thus far this year, who have a record of 6-1. Her best time for the 50 meter freestyle is 26 seconds, while her best time for the 100 meter freestyle is 58.5 seconds.

Expectations: “Last year we won against Montclair, and we have not done that in I think 5 years. I’m hoping we do that again this year.”

Awards and Accomplishments: Wentland has not won any awards or had any major accomplishments thus far for the PV team. However, she did make it to the junior olympics, representing her club team.

What She Likes Most About Her Sport: “I love competing because it is so rewarding to see how all the training pays off in a race. And being part of the team, especially on the high school team, it makes everything so much more fun.”

What Is The Hardest Thing About The Swim Team’s Morning Practice Schedule: “Getting up early. I set my alarm for 4:15, somehow I get out of bed and also, with it being so cold in the morning, like 1 degree, it just makes it even worse. But once you get to practice and you see the whole team it makes it fine.”

Best Sport Memory: “Last year when we won against Montclair everbody was cheering, and we were all so proud of ourselves because we won.”

Funniest Moment: “Kidnapping…it is when the seniors come and wake you up at like 4 in the morning and then we all go to another senior’s house and have breakfast and play games. “

Best Thing About PV: “I love how everybody in the school is so connected. Everybody is so welcoming and you never feel that you are left out.”
