Name: Matthew Beyer

Sport: Wrestling

Grade: Sophomore

Weight Class: 132 Pounds

The Lowdown: This year, Beyer’s current record is 24-1. Matt took 3rd in the county tournament. He is one of the main components for a PV team that is going to the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. He hopes that he and his teammates can do well in the district tournament, that is coming up in 2 weeks.

How Does It Feel To Be In The Playoffs: “It’s pretty awesome, but this season overall from the start of it, we always felt like it was going to be that way. We kind of expected it, I mean we had a good season last year and we have only been doing better this year.”

Coach’s Comment: “He is doing great things, and it is all because of his hard work. He has put all the hard work in and he is reaping the benefits.” – Coach Tom Gallione

What He Likes Most About His Sport: “I like the individualism about it. And also the hard work that goes into it. It’s not like any other sport with the way you practice and the way we train. So it’s cool because everything you get out of it is due to how hard you work.”

Best Sport Memory: “It was pretty exciting, the other day when we beat Teaneck 70 to nothing. So that was pretty cool because it was our first time shutting out a team.”
