The Lowdown: This season, Purcell broke the indoor bergen county record with a jump of 12’6.5. She also broke the New Jersey group 3 girls record with a jump of 12’0. Purcell currently owns the second best jump this season in the entire state. She will look to wrap up her Pascack Valley career with a strong showing throughout the spring season.
Expectations: “For Nations, I am trying to get on bigger poles. This spring I am hoping to get over 13 feet.”
What She Likes Most About Her Sport: “It’s fun and it is different.”
Best Sport Memory: “Hanging out with the team during spring track.”
Proudest Moment on the Field: “Breaking the county record.” (12’6 ¼)
Funniest Moment: “Some of the falls were scary but looking back they are funny.”
Best Thing About PV: “The community, everyone is really close.”
Why Did You Choose Pole Vaulting: As a former gymnast, pole vaulting was a logical choice for Purcell. She said that on her first day, “I went to track and they just sent me to [Coach Wilson].”
Personal Goal: “[Vault] to 13 feet.”
