Zach Zeller is The Smoke Signal’s Athlete of the Week

Name: Zach Zeller

Sport: Swimming

Grade: Senior

The Lowdown: Zeller has been a four year varsity contributor for Pascack Swimming.  He competes in the 500m freestyle and 100m breaststroke. He also is a part of Pascack’s 4x100m freestyle relay and the 200m medley relay in which he swims the breaststroke. Zeller has qualified for the Bergen County Meet of Champions in all of his events. Thus far, the Pascack boys’ swimming team is 5-1.

Coach’s Comment: 

Expectations: Zeller hopes to qualify for the state meet of champions. As a team he would like to see Pascack Regional make a deep run into the state tournament.

What He Likes Most About His Sport: He likes how swimming is both a team sport and an individual sport. Zeller appreciates that his teammates are there to support him while he competes in his own individual race.

Best Sport Memory: Freshman year in the state tournament against Union City when he, Eli O’Connor, and Sean Kim swept the 100m breaststroke to secure a win for Pascack Regional, and the team was able to advance.

Funniest Moment: On the bus when the team was playing an inappropriate song on a speaker and the coaches turned off the speaker.

Best Thing About PV: Zeller likes the relaxed atmosphere at PV and how the teachers are understanding towards their students.

What He Does In His Free Time: He is in the Pascack Valley marching band and also plays video games.

One Thing People May Not Know: He has never left the United States

Future Plans: He does not plan on swimming college but he plans on staying active and joining a club team.
