PV baseball team overwhelms No. 3 Ridgewood
One of PV baseball’s biggest wins of its 2015 season came on Tuesday afternoon against #3 ranked Ridgewood, 16-5.
Ridgewood was ranked at the beginning of the week by The Record at #3 in North Jersey. The Indians were ranked #19.
The sixteen runs came on fourteen hits for the Indians. Junior third baseman, Mike Pimpinella, went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
“We played really well as a team up and down the line,” Pimpinella said.
Along with Pimpinella’s three RBIs, senior Ron Villone had three, as well. Senior Dan Corvo and sophomore Frankie Cascio had two RBIs each.
Villione does not think the Indians should let the big win get to their heads.
“I would say it was important, just like every other game,” Villone said.
Senior pitcher, John Ryan Clark, got the win for the Indians. Clark struck five out in the shortened 5-inning game.
“Every player contributed to a big win, that is good for us moving forward,” Pimpinella said.
The Indians’ could push themselves to a very high seed in the Bergen County Tournament, which starts in the coming weeks. They also look to jump up in the Power Point rankings after going into the week at 10.
After a four game win streak that included two huge inter-divisional wins over Old Tappan and Bergenfield, the Indians lost to Demarest 7-0 on Thursday. They have a game scheduled each day for the next week, making their final push for state and county tournament seedings.
