PV Perspective: Though the Indians only have five wins and are two games above .500, coach Melissa Velez thinks is PV is a force to be reckoned with. “I don’t think that there’s a single team that can come onto our field, or obviously has us come to them, and think there’s not a chance we can beat them,” she said. Their first match in the County tournament against Old Tappan was a success, and Velez said that the Indians were simply more experienced. PV goes on to play AHA,  a game they lost this year in the regular season. The Indians fell to the Angels only by one, and are looking for revenge here. They’ll rely on Elisabeth Ralph, Jenny LaRocca and Hannah Linton to lead the Indians to their best finish in the county tournament, which was previously the semi-finals.

Holy Angels Lowdown: At 7-3, the Angels have played more games than the Indians, and having won six out of their past seven. In their previous game, Melanie Welch and Devin Toolen led the way for this Holy Angels team in the scoring department. Welch also tacked on three assists. The Indians’ defense has to stop the Angels’ star players taking command.

Expectations for the tournament: Make it past this game and face Ridgewood next Tuesday, which is nationally ranked. “Typically, most people in our county know that when they’re playing Ridgewood it’s going to be the hardest game they play in their season,” Velez said.
