Board of Education approves new English Department Supervisor
As of Monday, March 21, the Board of Education decided that the Pascack Valley High School District will be seeing a lot more of a very familiar face. Virena Rossi was unanimously approved by the Board to be the next English Department Supervisor for the Pascack Valley Regional District.
Rossi will be replacing Dr. Edie Weinthal, who is stepping down to retire as English Supervisor after 17 years of service to the district.
Rossi has had experience with both Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills in the past, having been a swing teacher for a few years when she taught in both buildings.
“I am really excited to be back in the Pascack Valley Regional High School District, especially because there has been a lot of change since I left,” she said.
Rossi was previously working as the supervisor of the English department in the Mahwah school district.
“I am very excited to see that she is coming back,” Jeffrey Steinfeld, President of the Board of Education, said.
Rossi knows that the transition to her new job will not all be easy, but she accepts that there will be obstacles that she will need to overcome.
“I think there are challenges everywhere. I would say one of the challenges is just going to be re-learning things,” she said. “Every place does things differently.”
It is clear that Rossi is innovative and excited to be working hand-in-hand with teachers and students to create the best working environment possible.
“The culture of innovation is very important in this district, and moving forward in that direction is very important to me,” she said.
Rossi also wants to improve the communication between Pascack Hills and Pascack Valley.
“There are some things that are done differently between the two buildings,” she explained. “But I know the district is a great place to work.”
