Boys soccer living up to potential
With a 4-1 record, the boys soccer team here at the Valley is off to a fantastic start.
The team didn’t let the pouring rain get in the way as the season opened on Thursday, September 10th against Old Tappan. With a goal by TJ Mastowski in the first half, and a winning goal by sophomore Alex Lin in overtime, the Indians beat the Golden Knights 2-1.
Following this game, PV hosted Bergenfield on September 17 in a very exciting game. Pascack Valley’s Michael Lin took the lead from the beginning, eventually scoring 3 goals, with assists by senior captain, Kyle McManus. Junior Ryan Miller scored 2 goals, assist by junior Carson Weis, intensifying the game for sure, and the Indians left the field with pride after they won 5-1.
Last Saturday, September 19, the Indians played the Norsemen of Northern Valley Demarest in their third game of the season. PV completely dominated the game, Michael Lin and Miller scored two goals each, Alex Lin adding one goal, and McManus with two assists.
On Monday, the Indians dominated once again beating Teaneck 7-0. With three goals from Miller, and one goal each from McManus, Michael Lin, Mastowski, and senior Michael Zocco, the Indians are looking forward to keep the momentum of success going for the rest of the season.
Junior Ryan Miller was also placed on the NorthJersey.com’s list of “Player of the Year Watch” and the boy’s soccer team is now ranked #12 in The Record’s Top 25.
This Week: The boys will be facing Indian Hills, away this Saturday at 2 p.m. and Northern Highlands, home at 7pm next Monday, September 28.
