Boys Soccer looks to build new identity following sectional championship

The boys soccer team lines up for shooting practice. They look to build a new identity following the sectional title win last year.

Coach: Luciano Cofrancesco

Last year’s record: 17-4-3 (6-2-2 in league)

Key Losses: Michael Caminneci, Nicholas Bonanos, Max Van Gyzen

Key Newcomers: Jimmy Shea (Sr.), Sean Stewart (Jr.), Robert Wasserman (Soph.), Nolan Wasserman (Sr.), Shane Feder (Sr.), Steven Gifford (Soph.)

Strength of the team:  “It’s a nice cohesive group; they work together very well,” Cofrancesco voiced. “They are kind of able to move the ball together, and it’s very nice to be around them.”

Weakness of the team: “We’re a little bit smaller than we were last year but not incredibly. We aren’t as tall in the air and defensively,” Cofrancesco said.

Outlook on the season:  “The goal is always to represent in the league very well because if you win the league it can really set you up for a good county [run], and we usually get enough power points for a state run,” Cofrancesco said.

Coach’s Comment: “Should be fun and a different year,” Cofrancesco stated. “I don’t know in terms of success, but it’s a good group, and we should do well.”
