The senior class looks on at the third Valley Cup that took place in March.

The annual Class Cause Weeks are dedicated to raising awareness and money for each of the four chosen class causes.  From the week of March 28 until the week of April 18, the school has showed its support for the various foundations.  Each week, students and staff were encouraged to wear each of the class’ colors one day of the week to show their support and to win Valley Cup points for their class.  In addition, class councils were responsible for creating a public service announcement and hosting an after-school event to raise money.

Class: Junior

Color: Red

Cause: The junior class recently decided to change its cause to the Paramus Veterans Home due to issues with how its previous cause, the Wounded Warrior Project, spends donations.  The class council members are very excited about the change and are ready to see the effect that they can have on a cause so close to home.

Event: The class held a speedball tournament during the week of March 28.  Junior class council president, Emilio Quevedo, said, “I’m very happy to see how supportive people are of our new cause.  Our speedball tournament was a huge success, and we are really thankful for everyone that came out to support the cause.”

Class: Freshman

Color: Blue

Cause: The freshman class chose the ALS Association as their cause because of a personal connection that the council and the president, Sofia Urbaniak, have with ALS.  Sofia explained that during their class cause week, they “planned to educate people about what parts of the body ALS affects and how people with ALS deal with this disease.”

Event: The freshman class held a volleyball tournament during the week of April 18 in which both students and teachers were able to participate.  In addition, the class held a movie night where they showed The Theory of Everything.  This movie is about Stephen Hawking, his life, and his experience with ALS.
