Co-director of PV’s Theatre program visits Theater Arts class
The seventh period Theater Arts class recently welcomed Mr. Tom Lupfer, co-director of Pascack Valley’s High School Theatre program, to their class as a guest speaker.
Ms. Peg Narin, the teacher of the Theater Arts class, explained that she wanted the students to learn about the individuals from the community that pursue theater arts.
“It is always important to be able to connect activities and lessons in the classroom to real life experiences. We thought it would make sense for people to come in and speak to us. People that are either acting, directing, or any other aspect of theater they do,” Narin said.
The eight student class created a list of questions for Lupfer and had a quick question and answer session with him.
Additionally, he spoke of his theater experience, such as how he was a part of four productions when he was in high school and how he had directed many productions since then.
“I fell in love with directing during my senior year, and even though working with young kids can be a challenge, I love it!” Lupfer said.
Lupfer shared how he met his wife, Mrs. Merielle Lupfer, who is also a co-director of PV Theatre. The Lupfers first met while participating in a theater program at NYU, the college that they both attended. Mrs. Lupfer was offered a job position for PV’s Theatre program and brought Mr. Lupfer along with her. The Lupfers have worked together at PV since then.
Kayla Barry graduated in 2019.
