Community comments on mascot removal
Community members had two opportunities in which they could call in or “raise their hand” to voice their opinions in a 5-minute time slot per person at today’s virtual Board of Education meeting held on Zoom.
The main subject of discussion pertained to the BOE’s removal of the Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills mascots of the Indians and Cowboys. The meeting comprised of 500 community members – 36 people called in. Many thanked District Superintendent Erik Gunderson and the BOE members for making “the right decision” in removing the mascots, while others argued against the decision.
