Congressional candidate Roy Cho addresses students Wednesday in the PV Auditorium.

Last Wednesday afternoon, 33-year-old Congress candidate Roy Cho came to talk to Pascack Valley students and faculty during Pascack Period.

Cho, a Democrat, will oppose longtime incumbent E. Scott Garrett in Tuesday’s election.

Originally from Freehold Township, Cho painted himself as a true Jersey guy. Working two jobs to help pay for his tuition at Brown University, he worked at both Abercrombie and Fitch and the Governors Office, where he discovered his passion for politics.

In 2003, he graduated from Brown, where he went on to Georgetown Law School and become a corporate lawyer in New York City. When asked who he looked to for inspiration in politics, he replied with Cory Booker (resident of Harrington Park and graduate of Northern Valley Old Tappan).

“It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much experience you have, we need new and fresh ideas, a new way of thinking,” were Booker’s words to him, Cho said. “Get engaged, you are young and don’t have certain obligations, I encourage you to take some risks.”
