‘Cropsey’ second season to premiere

PV alumni continue film miniseries

“Cropsey,” the original Pascack Valley miniseries, is back for a second season with PV alumni Casey Lewis, Andre Dabaghian, Leana Hacopian, Sam Cassidy, Ben Bachrach, and Brendan Martins who made the first season of the film two years ago. The Halloween-themed episodes will be released all at once on Monday, Oct. 28.

“The fact that former PV students are using their free time to come together and make something like this boggles my mind,” video production teacher Michael Sherman said. “It really shows the character, dedication, and work ethic the kids have. Doing these types of projects aren’t easy — it shows how much love they have for the PV community.”

Over the summer, Sherman helped the former students record the second season. He said that he was glad to work with a highly motivated group and produce something that everyone in the school would hopefully enjoy.

“Ever since I met Sherman in my junior year, he has always been there for me,” Dabaghian said. “He’s an amazing guy with so much enthusiasm for what he does and it is a true blessing to call him one of my good friends in life.”

Episode 1 of the first season of “Cropsey” was released on May 25, 2018 to PV Stream, and received around 34,000 views. Lewis hopes that this success will carry over into the second season of “Cropsey.”

“Doing another season of ‘Cropsey’ was always an ongoing joke,” Sherman said. “We talked about it but it wasn’t something I really wanted to do. When Casey and Sam reached out to me with a script and said they wanted to make another one, I told them ‘If you’re serious about it, I’ll hand you the keys to the mask and overalls, and you have my blessing.’”

This will be the third major project by the video production class. Sherman said with filming a second season of “Cropsey,” he wants to emphasize finding a passion for an idea and having the work ethic to make it become a reality.

“When I was a high school student, I always dreamed about making some type of show for my school,” Sherman said. “I just never had the resources. “The fact that I’m sitting here today as a Video Production teacher talking about the third original show PV is about to release, with many more in the pipeline, just shows the vast support the administration and school give us. It really is a humongous team effort.”
