Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills High Schools will participate in fully remote learning until Monday, Dec. 14, according to an email from district Superintendent Erik Gundersen. The announcement comes following “constant dialogue with the State, County, and Local Departments of Health,” per the email. 

“Contact tracing investigations have shown a significant rise in the number of positive COVID-19 test results throughout our community,” Gundersen said. “Unfortunately, the results of the various investigations are not clearly indicating a specific circle, or circles, of people, which classifies this significant rise as a community outbreak.”

Students will continue following the current schedule, with Monday, Nov. 30 being a “B1” day. Students and teachers will not be allowed in the buildings during this time and students will continue to sign-in remotely to each class via Genesis. Barring any setbacks, both schools plan to reopen for in-person learning and co-curricular activities on Dec. 14.

“During the Thanksgiving holiday and this time of remote learning, we implore everyone in our community to do all they can to stay safe – the health of our community is our number one priority,” Gundersen said in the email.
