The first Valley Cup of the 2023-24 school year was on Oct. 6, 2023. To start the year off, the Executive Council started with the events of a relay, lizard tag, a soccer tournament, and a tug-of-war.
All four classes battled against each other in the relay. Each class had to pass a yoga ball to all the members of the class council using only their legs. Then, one person raced to eat a donut from a string. Once that was completed, another student had to hop from half-court to the end of the basketball court in a plastic sack. Lastly, another student threw a football across to a partner.
The Sophomore Class ultimately won the relay.
In lizard tag, each class elected a student to try to pull all of the opponents’ flags from their belts.
The sophomores also won lizard tag.
In the soccer tournament, there were three games. First, the Freshman Class faced the Junior Class. Then, the Sophomore Class played the Senior Class. Lastly, the two winners of the first two games, the Junior Class and the Senior Class, went against each other. The Junior Class won the tournament, as it beat the Senior Class 1-0.
For the last event of the day, there was tug-of-war. The Freshman Class went against the Senior Class, and the Junior Class went against the Senior Class. The seniors won tug-of-war, but it wasn’t over yet. The Senior Class had to try to defeat the teachers in a tug-of-war. The Senior Class was ultimately unsuccessful, and the teachers came out on top.
Once the points were totaled up from the events and spirit day points, the Senior Class was announced as the winners of the first Valley Cup of the year.
After Valley Cup concluded, the class presidents and winning class teacher advisors shared their thoughts.
