First Valley Cup of the 2024-25 school year

Gabrielle Rothenberg, Drew Elbogen, Trevor Kirkby, Maizie Catanzaro, and Lia Senande

The senior class won the first Valley Cup of the 2024-25 school year on Oct. 2, 2024. The four grades competed in a relay, volleyball, and tug-of-war.

During the relay, students had to eat a donut on a stick, scooter across the gym floor, make a three-point shot, and land a frisbee in disc golf. The seniors won the relay after the juniors were disqualified for using their hands during the donut on a stick portion of the relay.

The juniors won tug-of-war, beating the seniors in the final.

The juniors won volleyball, beating the seniors in the final.

After Valley Cup, the class presidents and the freshman class advisors shared their thoughts on the week and the competition.

Gabrielle Rothenberg, Editor-in-Chief

Gabrielle Rothenberg is a senior who joined the publication her freshman year and became an editor that spring. She has now risen to Editor-in-Chief for her senior year. Gabrielle has always loved writing, whether it be for fun or the Valley Echo. In addition to her position at the paper, she is co-captain of the Debate Team, treasurer of the Senior Class Council, and a member of the Varsity Tennis Team. Outside of school, Gabrielle enjoys skiing and listening to music.

Drew Elbogen, Lead Sports Editor

Drew Elbogen is a senior who joined the publication his freshman year and is now a Lead Sports Editor. He has always loved writing, especially in sports, both for fun and for the Valley Echo. In addition to his position at the paper, he is on the Varsity Basketball Team, a counselor for Camp Raspberry, and a member of the Investment Club. Outside of school, Drew enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and volunteering to help the community.

Trevor Kirkby, Sports Editor

Trevor Kirkby is a senior who was a part of the Valley Echo his freshman year and is now back as a Sports Editor for his senior year. Trevor has always enjoyed reading and writing sports stories and articles: about high school, college, and professional sports. Trevor is a member of both the Varsity Baseball and Basketball Teams. He is also a member of the Executive Council after previously serving on class council for two years. He hopes to write more articles about sports and overall PV Culture this year.

Maizie Catanzaro, Staff Editor

Maizie Catanzaro is a sophomore who joined the Valley Echo during her Freshman year and is now one of the staff editors. She has always loved reading and is excited to share her ideas while adding to the Pascack Valley community. In addition to the publication, Maizie is part of the Pascack Swim Team and Environmental Club. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, baking, and walking her dog.

Lia Senande, Staff Editor

Lia Senande, a sophomore at Pascack Valley, joined the Valley Echo her freshman year as a writer and is now a Staff Editor. She is passionate about reading, writing, and traveling. Lia has been involved in many clubs and school activities such as the PV Lacrosse Team, PV Pals, and the Celebration of Cultures Committee. In her free time, she enjoys reading, binge-watching TV shows and rom-com movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Zander Karalewich, Staff Editor

Zander Karalewich is a sophomore who has been a part of the Valley Echo since his freshman year and is now a Staff Editor. Along with writing articles, Zander is also a photographer for the Valley Echo and a concert photographer for various publications. He enjoys watching hockey and baseball and is a member of the Pascack Valley Golf Team. Zander is looking forward to writing more articles this year.
