Pascack Valley football, boys soccer, girls soccer, and volleyball are all finishing their seasons by competing in the state tournament in hopes of winning the unsurpassed group final in their respective sports. The football team will also compete in their league playoffs. The baseball team last year made it to the Group 3 final, however, they fell short to Ocean City in a 14-inning thriller. That was the last team to make it to a group final in their respective sport and all teams hope to replicate and then surpass the baseball team’s success.

Volleyball started off their state tournament run this Wednesday against West Milford, who they defeated in two sets, continuing their run. PV came into the tournament as the sixth seed and they faced off against the third seed Old Tappan in the second round on Monday evening. Unfortunately, PV fell to Old Tappan in two sets. The first set’s score was 25-21 and the second set’s score was 25-13. The volleyball team finished their season with a final record of 15-8.

After yet another double overtime, the PV boys soccer team were able to defeat Garfield by a score of 3-2. This is the first game of the season that the Panthers were able to edge out a victory through upwards of 100 minutes. Right back Conor Moon, defensive midfielder Nicholas Bonanos, and right wing Shane Feder each had a goal in their first round appearance. Feder scored the winning goal for PV in the first round of the state tournament.

The girls soccer team starts their state tournament journey this Tuesday at home at 2 p.m, against Elmwood Park. PV is 10-4-3 this year and the sixth seed while Elmwood Park is 6-9-2 and the 11th seed. PV is led by their leading scorer Julia Conjour. She also leads the team in assists. Amanda Polyniak follows up with a total of eight goals. PV failed to make a run in the county tournament, losing in the second round to Ramsey, 4-2.

Football has had a good season so far, finishing 6-3. Coming off of a tough loss on Friday to Ramsey who completed their first undefeated season since 1982, PV hopes to build off of their “valley toughness” and defeat Montville in the first round of the state tournament. PV has been led by their running offense, with Nick Messina having 1,187 yards and 16 total touchdowns on the season. PV lost to Ramsey last week 21-7, with Valley’s defense having a pick and a fumble recovery, however the Panthers were not able to prevail. 4th seeded PV and 5th seeded Montville both come into the game with the same record of 6-3.
