Former PV assistant’s future at Paramus uncertain
Weigel gets HIB charge dropped, job still in limbo
Bill Weigel, a longtime Pascack Valley assistant, who last spring was hired by Paramus as the program’s next head football coach had a tumultuous first season.
Weigel guided the Spartans to a 4-3 record before being relieved of his duties midseason for allegedly verbally abusing a player, and consequently was charged with HIB, according to The Record.
Prior to taking the Paramus head coaching job, he served for three seasons (2012-14) as the head coach at Lakeland, compiling a 20-11 record and making the playoffs twice. He also served as Pascack Valley’s offensive coordinator (2006-12), before returning to PV last season as PV’s quarterback coach.
Last night, Weigel filed for an appeal with the Paramus Board of Education regarding the HIB allegations, which was ultimately decided in his favor, as first reported by Darren Cooper of The Record.
While the Paramus Board of Education ruled by a 6-3 margin that what Weigel said did not constitute HIB, it remains to be seen what the status of Weigel’s job is, Cooper confirmed via Twitter.

There is no further update given on Weigel’s status at the HS. That I guess we will learn soon. Meeting adjourned.— Varsity Aces (@VarsityAces) January 24, 2017
The Paramus BOE though will not comment on his employment status for next season, meaning, they could uphold his appeal, but post FB job.
