PV junior Rosemary Stanchack’s baking hobby started when a simple search for cupcake recipes left her amazed at the wide variety of options. Curious to try them, Stanchak’s hobby took off.
“From there it was just recipe after recipe,” Stanchak said.
Now, Stanchak combines recipes to make her own, baking mostly cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
“I just enjoy it so much, so I do it often,” Stanchak said.
Soon after she began baking, Stanchak’s father urged her to turn her hobby into a business. He spoke to a friend who owns a small shop, and that friend urged Stanchak to bring some of her products in to sell.
From there, Stanchak started baking for friends and family, even receiving requests to bake for their birthday parties, sweet sixteens, and other events.
Stanchak particularly enjoys making cake pops, which are her most popular request. Once she finishes baking products for others, she packages her desserts with bows, stickers, and her personal logo on it. She posts her products on her instagram account, @freshbakedby_rosie.
“I try to make things as unique and different as I possibly can,” Stanchak said.
In addition, Stanchak is a dual baking teacher and babysitter. When she babysits young girls from her former dance school, she teaches them how to bake, typically showing them how to make simple desserts such as chocolate chip cookies or brownies.
In the future, Stanchak hopes to keep baking as a hobby. Although she would consider turning creating a full scale business, she also wants to be become a physical therapist and does not want to compromise that plan.
“I just keep doing what I love,” Stanchak said.
