Fresh faces, same hopes

PV boys soccer poised for strong season

Coach: Roy Nygren (8th season)

Last Year’s Record: 10-5-4

Key losses: Ron Villone, Eric Sullivan, Dante Cassano, Mike Villegas, Ryan Coyle

Key Returnees:  Emilio Quevedo (Jr. D), Jacob Ricco (Jr. D), Jon Dinnell (Jr. MF), Kyle McManus (Sr. MF), Michael Lin (Sr. MF), Theo Morris (Sr. D), and  Josh Ulin (So. G).

Team Strengths:  While the team may have a couple young faces, the technique it has shown is amazing, and the players know what to do to move the ball forward with ease. The key returnees definitely add confidence to the team, so games will be exciting to watch.

Team Weaknesses: With such a young team, the only worry is keeping up with the rigor and speed/strength of other teams. The boys have practiced long and hard, but are willing to leave it all on the field, so hopefully the outcome is positive.

Coach’s Comment: “These are guys that are great on and off the field, they train hard, play hard, and when you do that, there are no regrets. They truly have a passion for the game, and whatever the potential is supposed to be, the team will live up to their potential, no doubt.”

Opening game is Thursday, 4 p.m. at home vs. Old Tappan.
