Girls soccer looks forward to a positive, successful season

Last year’s record: 14-6-1

Key returnees: Amanda Polyniak (Sr.), Tara Stewart (Sr.), Lana Freedberg (Sr.), Katelynn Park (Sr.), Sarah Mastowski (Sr.), Anya Dembowski (Sr.), Celina Bussanich (Jr.)

Key losses: Julia Conjour, Tori Criscuolo, Cameron Dolan, Vanessa Rack

Key newcomers: Alexandra Lambrinos (Fr.), Avery Stein (Fr.), Gabriela Velecela (Fr.)

Strengths of team: “We have a lot of experience, especially from the seniors. Our team also has the desire to win in our league, section, and county,” Coach Jerome said.

Areas that need improvement: “We work on things that every team does. We need to work on our touch work and attention to detail,” Coach Jerome said.

Outlook: After losing their leading goal scorer and two main defenders, Jerome and Pascack Valley Girls Soccer look to continue their high-level play. Despite losing in the state tournament semifinals last season and a demanding schedule this year, Valley is ready to compete.

Coach’s comment: “I want to create a positive soccer experience for all the girls in the program,” Jerome said. “Obviously, the goal is winning, but I want all the girls to enjoy playing soccer here at Pascack Valley.”

Noah Reiser is a senior who joined the Valley Echo his sophomore year. He started as a sports writer and is now one of the Lead Sports Editors for this year’s staff. Noah has always been passionate about writing and sports, whether for a class or the Valley Echo. During his time at Pascack Valley, Noah played on the soccer and baseball teams his freshman year and is a current member of the Varsity Basketball Team. He has also been a part of Camp Raspberry, Yearbook, Investment Club, and the National Honors Society. Noah looks to continue his writing and editing production, exploring the various stories that involve Pascack Valley sports.

Ava Kim is a senior who has been a part of The Valley Echo since her freshman year. This is her second year as a photo editor and she is looking forward to pursuing her passion for photography. When she is not taking photos for the publication, Ava can be seen baking or cheering on the Pascack Valley varsity and competition cheer team.
