Girls soccer season ends after tough loss
This past Thursday night The Pascack Valley Girls Soccer Team (9-6-1) faced off at home against the Bergenfield Bears (2-13).
The Indians were coming off of a 4 game winning streak that included four straight shutouts. They were looking to continue their dominance against a struggling Bergenfield team, that the Indians beat at Bergenfield 7-0 on September 16.
As expected the Indians controlled the game throughout winning 3-1. The goal scorers in this one were Elizabeth Spadafino (So.) with 2 goals, and Chloe Witt (Jr.) with 1 goal. Katie Gallagher (Sr.) also had an assist in the victory. The only goal Bergenfield scored was off an own goal as time was expiring, thus snapping the Indians for game shutout streak.
The team’s next game would be a state playoff game, The Indians drew the 11 seed and had to play against the 6 seeded Wayne Valley Indians (13-6) in Wayne Valley. The girls were looking for the upset but could not pull it off, as they fell to Wayne Valley 1-0 eliminating them from the state tournament and ending their season.
Throughout this season the Indians had many ups and downs and faced a lot of adversity because of their tough schedule. Overall, the girls end the season with a 9-6-1 record including a 7-1-1 record in their conference. Now the focus moves to the future, and it looks to be very bright, as the Indians have a lot of returning players and some new talent for next year and years to come.
