Girls swim team continues domination

Girls remain undefeated on the season as the boys struggles continue

This past week was a successful one for the PV girls swimming team. Not only did the team break a school record, but they also had swimmers qualify for the Individual State Meet of Champions.

As the season draws to a close, the girls continue their dominance, not having lost one meet last. Their record is now 8-0-1.

Over the past week, the girls have faced three different teams, and in all three meets, they swam exceptionally well. This past Saturday, the girls took on Wayne Valley. PV took the win in this match by a score of 90-80. PV had multiple first place winners, including Dani Freeman in the 100 free, the 200 free relay which consisted of Stephanie Perini, Lauren Parisi, and Dani Freeman, the 100 backstroke from Cassidy Le, the 100 breast from Lauren Parisi, and last but certainly not least was the 400 free relay from Stephanie Perini and Cassidy Le.

Three days later, girls swimming found themselves once again competing, this time against Indian Hills. In this meet, the girls dominance, skills, and capabilities truly showed in the matchup. Firstly, the girls won the 200 medley with contributors of Cassie Freeman and Haleigh Marzano, a freshman who is doing very well this season. Other first place finishes included Cassidy Le in the 100 fly and Dani Freeman in the 100 breaststroke. Finally, the girls also placed first in the free relay, with contributors of Cassie Freeman and Marzano. The girls defeated Indian Hills by 106-74, dominating in the pool.

And finally, Wednesday night is when all of the action took place. First off, Marzano and Cassie Freeman had a first place finish in the 200 medley relay. Then Cassie Freeman set a new school record in the 200 I.M. Additionally, Cassie Freeman once again won in the 100 fly, and Marzano won in the 100 breaststroke. Finally, Cassie Freeman and Marzano qualified for the Individual State Meet of Champions in the 400 free relay, and beat their own records, which just also happened to be the school record.

While the girls are cruising, the boys struggle continues.

The boys started off the week on a good note, tying Wayne Valley 85-85 then losing the last two meets, 96-74, and 127-43. The boys will look to captains Eli O’Connor and Jimmy Spillane for a reversal of fortune.
