Indians place in Bergen County Relays
This past week, the Pascack Valley Boys and girls track teams competed against all other high schools in Bergen County at the annual Jack Yockers County Relays.
Jack Yockers, graduate of Tenafly High School, and later Providence College, was arguably the best physical education instructor and coach of all time. He is a member of the Bergen County Century Victory Club and New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Hall of Fame.
The Pascack Valley boys team tied for ninth place overall, accumulating 16 points, while the girls team came in 10th place.
The boys distance medley relay team came in second, which includes seniors Nurlan Herburger and. AJ Hall, junior Evan Jones, and sophomore Jeff Roberts.
Another notable recognition for the boys was fifth place for the 4×800 Meter Relay, which includes seniors. Chris Carcich, Bobby Klemt, and Jacob Boyle, and junior Colin Gilmore.
Field events were also a success for the boys with senior John Della Pesca (sixth place pole vault), junior Pat Song (10th place pole vault), senior Ben Mandel (11th place long jump), and sophomore Troy Peressini (12th place high jump).
Girl runners, which include juniors Abby and Chelsea Lee and sophomores Ashley Evans and Nikki Criscuolo, came in third place for the distance medley relays and fourth place for the 4×1600.
Another notable recognition for the girls team was sixth place in the 4×800 with seniors Caroline Morrow and Jessie Cotugno, freshman Marlo Guastella, and sophomore Laura McDermott.
Juliana Schraer came in fourth place in high jump, and Melissa Purcell came in 10th place in pole vault.
The Indians will be facing Bergenfield today at Bergenfield High School.
