Cliffside Park: 1-6

PV Perspective: Coming off two straight wins, the Indians hope to continue their momentum going into Saturday’s game against Cliffside Park. Coming off the 26-0 win over Ridgefield Park, the Indian’s defense hopes to continue their domination on the defensive-side of the ball. However, the spotlight will be back on sophomore starting quarterback Joe Campanga, as last week he threw two touchdowns, along with two interceptions with 81 yards on 4 completed passes. As usual, Matt Urrea did most of the heavy-lifting for Pascack Valley as he had 27 carries for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Furthermore, senior Phil Wong led the Pascack Valley defense with 2.5 sacks last week, and some big hits through the duration of the game. PV’s playoff hopes depend on wins from Ridgefield Park over No. 9 Bergenfield, Lenape Valley beating No. 8 Lakeland, as well as wins from Wayne Hills, Nutley, Old Tappan, and Demarest. But perhaps the most important scenario is PV beating Cliffside Park.

Cliffside Park Perspective: Coming off of a 35-0 shutout courtesy of Weequahic, the Red Raiders hope to turn things around on both sides of the football. The Red Raiders are coming into this game off of two back-to-back losses, as they fell to Tenafly in a very low scoring game, 14-7. Coming into Saturday, Cliffside Park offense hopes to produce better numbers then the previous two weeks.

Key Matchups:

Joe Campanga Vs. Cliffside Park Secondary: Coming off an ankle injury last week, Campanga still managed two touchdown passes against Ridgefield Park. Going into Saturday, Campanga will have to be smart with the football and reduce turnovers to a minimum, as the Red Raiders will pounce on every opportunity they get to score, especially after a turnover.

Phil Wong Vs. Cliffside Park Offensive Line: Coming off a lockdown game for Wong defensively, the Red Raiders offensive line will have a lot to deal with when it comes to Wong, as he ended last week’s game with 2.5 sacks, and some clutch hits. If Cliffside Park wants to score this week, their offensive line needs to be able to contain Phil Wong. Valley’s defense, if operating at maximum capacity, may shutout Cliffside Park, which has been shutout three times already this season.
