Indians take home hardware at league meet

Monday night was huge for PV Winter Track as it had its Big North meet at the Armory in New York City. The Armory is considered a mecca of indoor track in the US, as it hosts many of the big meets in the country.

The Indians had multiple strong finishes to start their day off. Bobby Klemt placed fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:16. The Smoke Signal’s own Evan Jones got his first Winter Track medal with a fifth place finish in the 400 with a time of 54.4.

Jones noted his performance as, “The best race I have run all season.”

Along with Jones’s great performance in the 400, AJ Hall won the event with a time of 50.9.

In the girls 400, Kaitlin Muccio finished fifth with a time of 64.9.

In the boy’s mile, Nurlan Herburger kept his medaling ways going. Herburger finished second place in the race with a time of 4:40, and Jeff Roberts finished two places behind Herburger in fourth with a time of 4:44.

In the girls mile, Ashley Evans finished third with a time of 5:37.

Ben Mandel leapt his way to multiple great finishes for the Indians. In the triple jump, he took the gold with a 41-11 and took the silver in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.3.
