Indians win tough game against Fair Lawn

Sheehan brothers combine for three goals

The Pascack Valley Indians were victorious on Saturday after capturing the win over the Fair Lawn Cutters, 4-3. The last time these two teams played in December, Fair Lawn won by a final of 5-2.

“It was a hard fought game, especially at the end,” said team captain and goalie Steve Brennan,”I was glad to see that we got the win.”

Early in the opening period, junior Matt Mugno scored a breakaway goal to put PV up 1-0. About six minutes later, the Cutters answered to tie up the score at 1.

In the second period, the Indians shutout the Cutters, and managed to take the lead on a goal from Rob Sheehan, to make it 2-1 Valley.

The third period had plenty of action, with the two teams combining to score four goals in just ten minutes.

The beginning of the third didn’t go so well for Valley, with Fair Lawn scoring 2 goals, making it 3-2 with 2:20 seconds left in the game.

Just when it seemed as if the Indians would lose, Ryan Sheehan scored a goal with only 27 seconds left in the game to tie it up. Then his brother Rob, scored another goal just 13 seconds later, to give Valley the win. Rob Sheehan leads the team in goals, with 13 this season. Aidan Tuffy had three assists as well.

Valley will play a big game this Sunday at the Prudential Center, the home of the New Jersey Devils. The Indians will play against Paramus, with the game starting at 2:30 p.m. There will be a fan bus to the game as well.
