Thoughts on being able to perform following adversity:
“I was able to take what I’ve learned in other matches about [the other player’s] skills and use them [moving forward],” Ban said.
Coach’s Comment:
“One of the things about Alexis is that she is able to apply herself on the court. If she is in a difficult situation in a match, she’ll work through it,” Coach Daniel Phillips said. “She’ll come up with new solutions, and in that sense, she is really self-reliant. I think that is a real testament to her character.”
How she got into tennis:
Her parents had her start playing tennis when she was very young and both of them played in high school.
Favorite athlete at the professional level:
Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff
Best sport memory:
First state match for PV in a while which ended in a win.
Tips for managing academics and athletics:
“You need to be able to get things done efficiently, productively, and plan out when you’re going to do it,” Ban said.
Role models:
“My parents [are] definitely [my role models] because they always played [tennis]. They showed me how to play and what being a good player does,” Ban said. “Professionally, I would [say] Naomi Osaka because she is an amazing tennis player and she also speaks out about mental health.”
