Lacrosse player Giuliana Urban commits to Oberlin College

Senior Giuliana Urban committed to Oberlin College to play lacrosse on Tuesday afternoon. Oberlin College is a small Division III school in Ohio, however Urban originally wanted to stay closer to home, aiming for schools in the tri-state area.

“[Initially], I did not know I wanted to go to Oberlin until I visited the [campus],” Urban said. “The coach seemed like a really nice person [when I was in contact with her], and she invited me out there. Everybody [on the team] was super friendly.”

Urban is very grateful for Pascack Valley and her various lacrosse coaches and teams that helped her get to this point.

“The PV team has really emphasized the importance of friendship and bonding on the field,” Urban said. “Velez has also influenced [me] to always think in a positive manor.”

“She is a great leader by example and she works hard. She takes it seriously which is very important for a college athlete, both academically and on the field,” Coach Melissa Velez said.
