Last week’s Valley Cup assembly: Another hot “green and white mess”

Let’s be perfectly honest: this Valley Cup was a total green and white mess, and I loved every second of it.

Let’s break it down. The first activity involved students from each grade eating a donut off of a string, eating a fresh Shop Rite pie, and then popping balloons with your body. I have to note that I have never, and would never, participate in a Valley Cup game because I would truly be a horrible participant. While eating a donut off of a string seemed appealing at the moment (removing the lunch period from half days doesn’t do well for the percentage of students that are constantly hungry and/or want to eat because they are bored), I would find a way to completely mess it up. So, I have respect for the people that volunteer to participate and run the risk of taking a good portion of the time trying to pop the balloon with their crime-fighting duo that consists of their butt and elbow.

Once the donut and pie remains were cleaned off the floor, a game of hockey began between each of the grades. The final game was between the seniors and sophomores, as they each won their separate game before. The game ended with a tie, and the tiebreaker was what seemed like a two-day long shoot-out between the specific players of each team. The tie was eventually broken by the sophomore class, who ultimately won the final hockey game, and it is probably the first time they haven’t been stuck in the fourth place table at the party (which is usually where every junior class gathers to finish off the extra donuts and pie that didn’t make it to the earlier competition).

Regarding which class had the most students wear their class color shirts, the junior class had a surprising victory since black is truly the hardest color to find in your closet. In another surprising move, the seniors lost this part of the competition, which is strange because orange is obviously the color everyone has laying around.

For the final overall scores, the seniors are still at first place, with the freshmen following behind them, the juniors in third, and the sophomores in fourth, and the gym continues to be uncomfortably warm.
