Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams are your 2022 Super Bowl champions.

With the help of wide receiver Cooper Kupp and three top 10 defensive players Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, and Von Miller, the Rams barely edged out the Bengals by a score of 23-20.

It hasn’t been a pretty nor easy process for the Rams, but their resilience has been evident.

After making the Super Bowl in 2018 and losing to the Patriots 13-3, the Rams knew they were just one player away from being the team to beat.

In 2019, the Rams sent two first-round picks to Jacksonville and a fourth-rounder to get Ramsey, the all-pro corner in hopes of finding that one franchise difference maker.

They also acquired many pieces for their team in 2020, such as their starting running back Cam Akers and linebacker Leonard Floyd who ended this season with 9.5 sacks.

The Rams finished the 2019-20 season with a 9-7 record (missing the playoffs), and in the 2020-21 season, they finished with a 10-6 record. They made the playoffs that season with the number 1 ranked defense and still saw a divisional-round exit.

This wasn’t the only move the Rams made in this process. They also traded for Odell Beckham Jr and former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller during the middle of the 2021-22 NFL season.

In November 2021, the Broncos traded edge rusher Miller for a second and third-round draft pick. Miller is an 8-time pro bowler, three-time all-pro, and Super Bowl 50 MVP.

“This trade was a surprise, this team, they’re going to start winning soon,” Miller said. “We’ve got a lot of great players and a lot of great coaches here, and the staff is amazing.”

One move that really changed the team and their environment was the trade including quarterback Jared Goff, two first-round picks for the 2022 and 2023 draft, and a third-round pick for the 2021 draft for Stafford.

Stafford played his last 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions before joining the Rams. Although he didn’t accomplish much with the Lions as they had 3 playoff appearances and 0 playoff wins. However, he was still able to throw for 2,634 completions, 303 passing yards, six 4,000 yard passing seasons, and 25 fourth-quarter comebacks.

The Lions struggled without Stafford finishing with a 3-13-1 record, last in the NFC.

The connection between Stafford and Kupp was unstoppable during the 2021 season. Kupp finished the season with 145 receptions, 1,947 yards, 16 touchdowns, offensive player of the year, and Superbowl MVP.

After winning the Super Bowl, Rams General Manager Les Snead was seen wearing a shirt with a picture of himself and the words “screw them picks” at their Super Bowl parade.
