Starting the year strong with a 3-2 record, Kevin Regula has been a crucial part of the team’s success.
Regula wants to keep the winning going the rest of the way by setting personal goals and team goals.
“My expectations for the rest of the season are to definitely win the rest of our games and make a good playoff run,” Regula stated. “As a player, I hope to have a 1,000-yard season.”
Currently, Regula has 607 Rushing yards and 14 TDs.
Coach Cusumano has nothing but praise for Regula as not only a player, but as a person.
“Kevin is very humble both on and off the field,” Cusumano said. “He brings that humble mentality every single day, and I think his teammates gravitate around him.”
Regula makes sure to give his teammates credit for the success that he is having.
“As a player, I think that I’m just another piece to a big puzzle,” Regula said. “I feel you could have given player of the month to any one of our players.”
Not all leaders lead with their voices. Cusumano has praise for Regula as being a leader by example.
“He is definitely a leader by example,” Cusumano said. “Everybody knows that Kevin is not the most talkative at times, but I think his leadership by example exudes people to perform better around him.
Regula started playing football when he was in kindergarten and is a fan of both the New York Giants and the New York Jets, with his favorite player being Saquon Barkley.
Throughout his time as a football player, Regula has made many special memories, but the one that stands out most is last year’s win against River Dell.
“We were always the underdogs last year, and it was a big game for us. Coming off the field with a win felt great.”
While Regula also plays Lacrosse in the spring, he enjoys playing football more.
“I like football [more], [because] it’s such a team sport,” Regula said. “I like how the team all comes together and plays as one, each player [on the team] is important.”
Regula is planning on playing football in college, but does not want to look too far ahead and is focusing on the rest of this current season.
