National Honor Society holds virtual induction ceremony
A group of seniors was inducted into Pascack Valley’s National Honor Society over Google Meet on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. led by English teacher and NHS advisor Valerie Santo.
To begin, Santo greeted the public, thanking parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators for taking time out of their day to honor the NHS inductees. NHS board members Wilbert Joseph, Thomas DeWitt, Emma Petkovich, Hina Tazaki, and Kathryn Ng recited the group’s guiding principles, explaining the fundamentals of the society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Afterward, the NHS inductees were instructed by Santo to light a candle while repeating the National Honor Society pledge in order to officially become part of the NHS program.
Throughout the meeting, several administrators – including PV Principal Glenn deMarrais – spoke to the inductees, recognizing their “astonishing commitment” to Pascack Valley.
Santo acknowledged that “several” athletes were unable to make the meeting due to the timing of their practices, and compensated by recording the ceremony.
