Nightly Wrap Up 4/29/16

Baseball: Game vs. Demarest at Northern Valley High School – Demarest

Pascack Valley 7 Demarest 3

Valley’s offense jumped out to an early lead with a run in the second inning, and another in the third.  In the bottom half of the third, Demarest scratched across a run against Valley’s starter Mike Pimpinella. However, the Indians’ offense wasted no time, getting the run right back in the fourth. In the fifth, Valley’s offense loaded the bases for freshman Justin Martin. Martin came through in the clutch, as he delivered a bases clearing double. The double accounted for Martin’s first varsity RBI’s. Valley was able to tack on another run in the fifth as well. With his pitch count rising, Pimpinella got into some trouble in the sixth inning. Pascack Valley went to the bullpen, and called on sophomore Jake Klag. Klag was able to work out of trouble in the sixth, but he got into some trouble of his own in the seventh. He allowed back-to-back singles to start the seventh, so Valley brought in southpaw Alex DeRosa to finish off the victory. In addition to Martin, Mike Pimpinella, Alex Criscuolo, Alex DeRosa, and Jack Devanna had RBI’s in the win.

Next Game: The Indians will look to build on Friday’s performance on Saturday, when they host Westwood at Pascack Valley High School.

Softball: Game vs. Demarest at Pascack Valley High School.

Demarest 10 Pascack Valley 0

Pascack Valley struggled both in the circle and in the batter’s box on Friday. While the defense was stellar for the Indians, walks were plentiful for starter Alex Pleasic, and Valley’s offense couldn’t provide any run support, as Demarest stymied their bats. Pleasic pitched into the seventh inning for Valley before exiting with an injury. Freshman Cara McMahon came in to finish the seventh.

Next Game: The Valley’s bats will try wake up when they travel to Tenafly on Monday.

Boys Tennis: Match vs. Bergenfield at Bergenfield High School

Pascack Valley’s struggles continued on Friday, as they fell to Bergenfield.  In singles, Ethan Zindel (6-7, 2-6) and Jeremy Collier (0-6, 1-6) both lost in straight sets.  In doubles, Josh Cohn and Jeremy Collier fell 0-6, 4-6. However, there were some positive signs for the Indians.  Austin Davis had a commanding straight sets victory (6-3, 6-1), and after losing the first set 5-7, Jonathan Antebi and Christian Previtali took control of their doubles match, winning the next two sets 6-1, 6-1.

Next Game: The tennis team will look to get back on track on Monday vs. Demarest at Northern Valley High School – Demarest.
