Pascack gymnastics tops Holy Angels and Indian Hills
With a successful season already at the helm, the Pascack Gymnastics team (4-1) continued its quest for greatness, beating the Academy of the Holy (AHA) and Indian Hills in a dual at Ramapo on Tuesday. Pascack came in with a 106.275, AHA scored a 105.15 and Indian Hills with a 87.7.
Senior captain Jillian Dean (Valley) was very pleased with the team’s performance, “we were happy with how [the meet] ended especially coming off of a really bad meet last week.”
Dean posted her highest floor score of the season 9.225, which is also her personal best. Freshman Melissa Ricciardi (Valley), who has proven herself to be the most valuable newcomer to the team, posted her highest floor score of 9.4.
“I feel like we competed how we should and scored what we should be scoring,” Dean said.
With a few falls though, Pascack has not touched what could be its best scores of this season, going forward, the team looks to improve its consistency on all apparatuses. Dean believes that consistency is key in increasing the team’s overall score.
Regardless, of what Pascack needs to work on, this week was much better week than last. But the team can’t dwell on their victories, the team has to push to qualify for the state sectionals and win the league.
Rankings: Pascack Gymnastics is climbing in the rankings. The team is No. 3 in the “Super Six” by NorthJersey.com and No. 10 in The Star Ledger rankings.
This Week: The team will travel to Little Falls to face Passaic Valley on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
