Strength of the team:  “The close-knit feeling of the team,” Buchanan said. “Our captains do a great job of leading the group, letting [the freshmen and sophomores] know what is expected of team traditions and team commitment and putting the team first.” 

Weakness of the team: “I don’t necessarily view it as a weakness… just because of the youth of the team… [there are] some inexperienced high school swimming,” Buchanan said.

Outlook on the season:  “I think we’re going to hopefully pick up where we left off, with the girls making it all the way to the state semifinals and being undefeated,” Buchanan said. “The boys made it to the state quarterfinals. So I’m hoping both teams will pick up where we left off and continue on building on the success that they had last year.”

Coach’s comment: “I’m excited for the season,” Buchanan said. “I love working with them. Every single morning, we go early, 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., so they are fully committed to the team, and I always appreciate that”
