Many of Pascack’s swimmers pose for a photo last season. After losing many seniors to graduation, Pascack will look for many underclassmen to gain experience this season.

Coach: Jeff Ziegler (9th season) and Courtney Farrell (5th season)

Last year’s record: Girls: 9-1, Boys: 5-6

Key Returners:

Girls: Haleigh Marzano (Sr.), Yujin Kim (Sr.), Jennifer Malocha (So.), Katie Smith (Jr.)

Boys: Brendan Broesler (Sr.)  Zach Zeller (Sr.), Tyler Marzano (So.), Luke Pothen (Jr.), Sean Fei (So.), Liam Sandt (Sr.)

Key Losses:

Girls: Lauren Parisi, Emily Le, Danielle Freeman, and Sophie Messinger

Boys: Matthew Green and Kevin Herlihy

Strength of team: Pascack Regional has 15 freshmen from Valley and Hills coming in this year, so one of the team’s main strengths is that they have depth, not just for this season, but for the long haul.

Weakness of team: “Having a young team could also be a bit of a weakness because a lot of them are new to the sport of high school swimming and it tends to be different than club swimming,” Farrell said. “This year, since the team is young, is going to be for getting the newcomers a lot of experience to get them prepared for the future.”

Coach’s Comment: “I think we are going to have a really strong boys season because we have the most boys we’ve ever had on our team which is really exciting,” Farrell said. “On the girls side, I think they are going to have tough competition with them building up their freshman and sophomore swimmers. I do think they are going to have a very competitive season and it’s going to be really exciting to see.”
