Pascack Valley Football had its season come to an end Friday night, losing to Northern Valley Old Tappan 43-14 in the Group 3 semifinals.
NVOT QB Zachary Miceli (So.) opened the scoring for the Golden Knights with a 15-yard rushing touchdown on the Golden Knights’ opening possession. This gave NVOT a 7-0 lead.
On the next drive, PV QB Adam Shaw (Jr.) had a three-yard rushing touchdown for himself, tying the game back up at 7-7.
Towards the end of the first quarter, Miceli had another rushing touchdown, this one coming from five yards out. Old Tappan decided to go for the two-point conversion and converted on a pass from Miceli to utility man Alex Orecchio (Sr.), extending the lead in favor of NVOT, 15-7. This would remain the score for the first quarter.
The second quarter had only one score: Orecchio had a four-yard rushing touchdown. The Golden Knights took a 22-7 lead into halftime.
In the beginning of the third quarter, Shaw had a 62-yard run to get Valley on the five-yard line. After a four-yard run from RB Kevin Regula (Sr.), he scored a one-yard rushing touchdown. This cut the lead down to 22-14, NVOT. That would be the last time PV would score.
Old Tappan had three more rushing touchdowns in the game: a five-yard touchdown for Orecchio, a 20-yard touchdown for RB Nick Rossi (Sr.), and a 49-yard touchdown for Orecchio again. This gave NVOT a 43-14 lead: the final score of the game.
Shaw finished the game with 51 passing yards, 137 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. Valley finished the season with a 10-2 record, which included winning the North 1, Group 3 section.
