PV Record: 4-1
Old Tappan Record: 4-1
PV Ranking: No. 12 in NJ (NJ.com), No. 11 in NJ (MaxPreps).
OT Ranking: No. 21 in NJ (MaxPreps)
OT Lowdown: Old Tappan is a team that likes to run the ball. Nine different ball carriers have run the ball for the Golden Knights. The leading rusher is Zach Denike, who has seven touchdowns and 559 rushing yards on the season. Quarterback Kevin Martinez can both run and throw the ball. Martinez likes throwing the ball to Jordan Fuller, one of the best players in the class of 2016 who has many Division I scholarship offers on the table. Fuller also can throw the ball, so don’t be surprised if Fuller lines up at quarterback for some plays.
PV Perspective: Coming off a win by 42 points against Bergenfield, the Indians will be getting ready for possibly their biggest game of the season. We expect the Indians to throw the ball a little more against Old Tappan, but we know for sure that the strong run game for the Indians will definitely be a presence for the Indians.
Key Matchups:
PV Run Defense vs. OT Run Defense– The key to this game will be, who can stop the run the game. If either team is forced to throw the ball more times than running the ball, the run defense has succeeded.
Colin Dedrick vs. OT Secondary– Old Tappan has six interceptions on the season. If Dedrick can make accurate throws and make good decisions in the pocket, the Indians will have really good chances.
Predictions:
Calvin Ralph: 20-17 PV
Jake Aferiat: 28-7 PV
Evan Jones: 21-14 PV
Calvin Ralph graduated in 2016.
