PV Chamber Choir leaves for Los Angeles
Have you heard that Pascack Valley’s Choir is heading to L.A. this weekend?
PV’s very own Chamber choir, comprised of two classes during periods three and six, have left for Los Angeles today to sing at the Festival of Gold. Choir director Mrs. Argine Safari will be leading her choirs on this five day trip.
The Festival of Gold is an invitation-only event that is specifically for choirs who have achieved very high scores in past national festivals.
“It takes a lot of talent, time, and effort to prepare for a festival like this. Our Chamber choir has shown an unparalleled dedication and commitment and has spent long hours rehearsing and raising money for this trip,” Safari said.
At the festival the choir will be singing a variety of songs that include “Verbum Caro” by Hans Hassler, “Te Deum” by Antonin Dvorak and many more. PV’s male a cappella group, “Bro Squad”, also led by Safari, will sing “The Longest Time” by Billy Joel, “Coney Island Baby/We All Fall” medley, “Don’t Stop the Music”, and a Russian song, “Вечерний Звон”. Only the boys in the chamber choir who are also in “Bro Squad” will perform.
Along with performing, the choir will also be visiting Disneyland and the Grammy Museum, eating at the Rainforest Café, and touring the Hollywood area.
Safari is most looking forward to seeing the students sing new music with other choirs, make new friends, and work with esteemed guest conductors.
“These students have grown tremendously since the beginning of the year, personally, musically, and vocally. They built a solid and challenging repertoire of songs in different styles and developed a unique, beautiful sound,” Safari said. “I cannot wait for them to share their love and passion for music with their audiences.”
Safari and her students will return this Tuesday. Anyone who wants to follow the daily happenings of the trip can follow PV Choir on twitter, where they will be using the hashtag #pvchamberoohlaLA.
