Pascack Valley Football takes on Northern Highlands in the Panthers’ fourth game of the season on Saturday, September 20, at home at 1:00 p.m.
Valley comes into this matchup fresh off last week’s 29-26 comeback win against Teaneck. It was a hard fought battle during which Valley’s offense came in clutch to give PV the lead, while the defense was able to stop Teaneck’s final attack.
Adam Shaw (Sr.) led the way with two rushing touchdowns. Nick Ocampo (Sr.) had the game-winning rushing touchdown on fourth and goal with 1:03 left in the fourth quarter.
Northern Highlands arrives to Saturday’s game coming off a dominant 36-7 win over Hackensack, during which the Highlanders threw for 162 yards and rushed for 105 yards. The defense was dominant in the win, forcing a fumble and coming away with an interception. Highlands also had five sacks.
For Saturday’s matchup, Valley will be without quarterback and linebacker Adam Shaw. Shaw went down with an injury during the Teaneck game in the middle of the third quarter.
Last season, Northern Highlands defeated Valley in a blowout game, 31-6. Highlands has beaten Pascack Valley during their matchups for the past three consecutive seasons.
Valley will have to rely on its defense to stop Northern Highlands’ offensive attack. On offense, Highlands looks for big plays to open up the game, so Valley must have those well-covered.
