The Spanish exchange students have now come and gone. They arrived on Thursday, May 26 and left Friday, June 3.

Next school year, during the first week of October, ten Pascack Valley students involved in the exchange program will be going to Spain. They will be staying in Toledo, a city in Spain. While the students are there, they will visit Madrid, the capital of Spain, Segovia, and possibly Salamanca.

PV students will be able to practice their Spanish while they stay in the homes of some Spanish students. They also will get to learn about life in Spain. Living in Spain will allow the students to experience Spain and Spanish culture first hand.

The Pascack Valley Spanish class, and the school in Spain began contacting through Skype. The students began emailing each other and eventually the two schools decided to start an exchange program.

Dorely Leal, the PV Spanish teacher in charge of the exchange program, said that her favorite thing about this program is that the students get to learn so much about the traditions, habits, food, and culture of Spain.

“I love it when I read their emails and see what good friends they’ve become,” Leal said.
