The Indians after their loss to Wayne Hills on Friday night. They look to rebound tonight against Demarest

Pascack Valley Vs. Demarest

When: Oct. 7

Location: Northern Valley Demarest

Time: 7:00 p.m.

2016 Records:

Pascack Valley: 0-5

Demarest: 4-1

PV Perspective: The Indians look to rebound on Friday following a 42-14 loss to Wayne Hills last week. each of its first \The Indians allowed all 28 points in the first half of Friday’s game. Matt Urrea rushed for 100 or more yards in his fifth straight game, and has been the model of consistency on the ground. The Indians, bitten by the injury bug, will likely be without quarterback Joe Campagna, and so will look to Urrea or junior Sam Cassidy to lead the signal calling. Two of PV’s top vertical threats, Matt Novakowski and Kyle Alvarado, are slated to return, which should bode well for the Indians who have leaned on Urrea for nearly 35 carries a game.

Demarest Lowdown: The Norsemen enter the game 4-1, with one of those wins coming against Ramapo, which dealt PV a 28-12 loss two weeks ago. Demarest beat Ramapo 42-37 on the back of quarterback Austin Albericci, who threw for 272 yards and contributed two touchdowns.  The Norsemen average 27.8 points per game on offense and have surrendered more than two touchdowns only once. Demarest, which was 0-10 last year, is 4-1 this year and taking the North Jersey Super Football Conference by surprise, and is a balanced offensive unit.

Key Matchup:

PV Defense vs. Demarest Offense: Pascack Valley’s defense gave up 42 points in its game last Friday, marking the fourth game where PV has surrendered four or more touchdowns. However, the Indians have shown prowess on the defensive front, shutting out Ramapo in the second half of that game. The Indians have been without senior defensive backs Kyle Alvarado and Matt Novakowski for several weeks, but both should return this week, and look to make an immediate impact against a balanced Demarest team. The front seven for the Indians may have their work cut out as Albericci is an adept runner in addition to a passer and poses a major threat
