PV Theatre announces 2015-2016 season
The PV Theatre season has been announced for the 2015-2016 school year. Auditions have just past, and the rehearsal process for the fall drama is about to begin.
The fall drama is Letters to Sala, a play that is based on the true account of Sala Garncarz Kirschner, who during World War II was transferred to seven Nazi labor camps over the course of five years. Fifty years later, she reveals the 350 letters she saved from these camps to her daughter Ann, who throughout the course of the play along with her mother and Ann’s own daughters feel the weight of the past. The play will be performed November 19 through November 21, with nightly shows at 7 p.m. and a matinee at 1 p.m.
There will also be a Spotlight showcase on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Details are still to be announced.
The spring musical is Urinetown. (Yes, Urinetown.) It’s a musical comedy that takes place in a futuristic dystopian city. Within the city, residents have to pay to use the public restrooms owned by a single company due to a 20 year drought and therefore a severe shortage of water. The townspeople are stirred by a hero to fight back against such humiliating injustice from this company, but run into many roadblocks along the way. With incredible music and hilarious dialogue, the show is sure to entertain. It is being performed March 17 through March 19, with nightly shows at 7 p.m. and a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in advance on the PV Theatre website.
