PV Theatre Arts class visits senior citizens’ home

The Pascack Valley High School Theatre Arts class visited the Atrium for Senior Living in Park Ridge on Monday Nov. 21.

The Theatre Arts teacher, Peg Narin, reached out to the Atrium for Senior Living through Mrs. Laura Grier, who runs the internships program at PV.

“They were thrilled with it,” Grier said. “They love having visitors and they love having young people around.”

The program consisted of charades, a version of the “Hokey-Pokey,” and a performance of “Cups (Pitch Perfect’s When I’m Gone).”

“It was so cute because they were all so happy,” PV sophomore and Theatre Arts student Danielle King said.

The class also led the seniors in a trivia game.

“It was such an uplifting morning,” said Cathy Ferrero, Director of Activities at. “What was so special for me was seeing residents who were rather shy answering these questions. A handful of the residents that were there opened up.”

Ferrero said that the residents “want [the class] back so badly.”

“We’re looking into [going back],” King said. “I like to think that it helped us see what we could do, our impact on people.”
