Entering Pascack Valley Football’s week two matchup against Paramus, Kevin Regula (Jr.) was coming off of a three-touchdown, 134-yard rushing performance against Ramsey. Topping that performance was a tall task, but Regula was able to surpass the previous week’s feat.
Against Paramus, Regula rushed for 261 yards on 20 attempts and scored five touchdowns in Valley’s 41-21 win.
With his performance, Regula was awarded with the Jersey Sports Zone Week 2 statewide Game Ball. Out of the total 6,854 votes casted, Regula received 2,266 of them.
“Winning the award felt awesome,” Regula said. “Knowing that I was nominated with some of the top players of [New Jersey] was very cool. I was amazed by the amount of votes and support I received.”
In the game against Paramus, Regula started off the scoring early with a two-yard touchdown-run in the first quarter, giving the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
He added another touchdown in the first half to tie the game up at 14 apiece, this time on a 74-yard run after Paramus had taken the lead.
Regula wasn’t done after the first half, recording three more touchdowns for 3 yards, 75 yards, and 60 yards, respectively.
First-year quarterback Adam Shaw (So.) values having Regula as a dominant force in the backfield alongside him. Shaw is able to trust him, allowing Shaw to perform better.
“It’s great,” Shaw said. “He is someone who I can rely on and trust to make a play every time he touches the ball.”
Regula praises his offense and team as a whole for its efforts in the game.
“The performance against Paramus really resembled who we are as a team,” Regula said. “It showed how dominant our offense is between our pass game, our run game, and our shutdown defense.
